Lighting and newsletter

New newsletter out today - hope it works and everyone likes it! The weather has been so bad that no one wants to go out much less come into the studio. I have another cutie coming to the studio on Saturday. 6 month photos - some of my favorites. This little guy is so darn cute that I had to put him in my blog - cute little pudgy hands and curls!

I have been taking a lighting class - it's good - maybe a little basic but you always need the basics I guess and tonight should be more sophiticated techniques - which I will be dying to try out. Check back for more on the class and my newest cuties.

I wonder if anyone would want to do a calendar. I would love to do the cuties of SKPhoto. Something to think about.

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentine's Day. Hope everyone is having a great day. Our niece just called to wish us "A down to a pack a day." Which in 3 year old terms is Happy Valentine's Day and I have been watching too much tv. How effective is that marketing campaign? She also taught us that the ABC song is also Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - think about how long you have had that in your head and it took a 3 year old to connect it. I know I felt pretty stupid not realizing it.

More cute faces

Check out little Kiera - she is too cute for words. My friend Liz brought her in for her three month photos.
Well my website is really getting closer to being redone - I have this great designer working on it and I finally am getting him photos for it. The newsletter seems to be a hit as well. Cute faces never hurt of course. I have to work on another newsletter - Constant Contact is great for that. I just need to upgrade since pictures are my thing and they only let you have 5 per email - how could I choose just 5 for emails - maybe 5 of each of my cuties.

Thinking about doing a calendar for next year. I wonder if it would have any response. If I could turn it into a contest maybe. Any ideas let me know!!

The joy of being an aunt

This blog is supposed to be about my photography business . . . but I have to start out with my newest photos of my nephew and his "big" sister. I went up to Bay City in January and Myah (sis) and I gave him a bath. As you can see she was a big help. I couldn't get her to understand why I wanted to keep him covered - as to not squirt me :) This is my first time as an aunt from the beginning - so I know I am bragging but he is too cute for words. I only took 400 or so photos when he was born - I got to be there for everything after the birth - weighing, measuring etc. and had to fully document it. I'm quite the proud aunt - 2 nieces Myah and Aniesha and a nephew Thurman Jr. or TJ as we call him. Myah is actually the inspiration for the current promotion - "That's really my kid." She knows that aunt Sherry is the only photographer who can take her photo - but wouldn't do a traditional pose if you promised her every princess movie in the world. So, we came up first with "The Faces of . . ." which is 5 shots of the same child - in this case, Myah. The picture is actually 5x30 with 5 different expressions - like a film strip. I will try to find it and post it.

When we did "The Faces of Myah," my husband stood behind me singing The Wheels on the Bus. Myah only knew the last line and sang it with gusto. That brought out all of her cute faces and the others. Her mom was thrilled with the real faces captured - she sees them every day and was glad we got them captured before they are gone. My favorite is in the newsletter this month - her stinker face.

This months promotion - "That's Really My Kid" is my favorite so far. Kids are so much more comfortable with their own favorite things and being themselves. Portraits are coming out adorable, fun and goofy - like the kids themselves. I will post some of those as well - they are so cute!!
